Premier Giorgia Meloni's cabinet has
agreed on the nominations for the new chiefs of Italy's State
Police and Finance Police (GDF), sources said on Thursday.
The cabinet has nominated Vittorio Pisani, the current deputy
director of the AISI intelligence agency, to be the new chief of
the State police, the sources said.
He is replacing Lamberto Giannini, who is set to become the new
prefect of Rome.
The GDF's new commander will be the current second in command
Andrea De Gennaro.
The sources said De Gennaro's nomination will be formalized at
the next cabinet meeting because Economy Minister Giancarlo
Giorgetti, to whom the GDF chief reports, is away at a G7
meeting in Japan.
He comes in for Giuseppe Zafarana, who has become the president
of energy giant Eni.
