Rome stands to earn between
600,000 and 1 million euros for granting the James Bond movie
Spectre permission to film at locations throughout the capital,
according to estimates released on Wednesday by the city's Film
Office.
On March 7 the movie is scheduled to start four days of
filming on location in Rome.
English actor Daniel Craig, who plays 007 in the 24th Bond
film, paid a visit to Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino on Wednesday
with co-star Monica Bellucci, who at age 50 is the oldest-ever
Bond girl.
Bellucci was spotted entering Palazzo Senatorio on the
Capitoline Hill, where the mayor's offices are housed, shortly
before Craig arrived.
The production will also be required to pay for public
services like street cleaning following filming.
Some enterprising Rome residents who live on a stretch of
Via Nomentana where a car chase scene will be filmed have
already begun renting out their flats for as much as 1,000 euros
a day.
With some of the city's most famous streets to be shut down
during filming, 800 security guards will also be on hand to
accompany residents around their neighbourhood during shooting.
