The group of British Members of Parliament for Italy, comprising members of the House of Commons and Lords from the different parties in Westminster, visited the Italian church in London, St Peter's Church in Clerkenwell, one of the most representative places of worship for the Italian community, in particular for having been a point of reference for immigrants to the United Kingdom since its foundation in 1863. The event was organised in collaboration with the Italian Embassy to celebrate the enduring cultural and historical ties between Britain and Italy. During the visit, members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Italy met with the parish priest, Father Andrea Fulco, and representatives of the local Italian community. "This historic church is not only a place of worship, but also a powerful symbol of the deep and enduring friendship between the UK and Italy," said Italian-born Conservative MP Alberto Costa, who serves as co-chair of the parliamentary group. While Deputy Chief of Mission Riccardo Smimmo stressed the importance of the event in light of the relationship between the two countries and the significant role played by the Italian community in London.
